3D Printed Signage – The Beast Large 3D Printer
A little explored use for 3D Printers, Custom Signage.

Using the awesome and free Sketchup (http://www.sketchup.com/), you can easily create 3D text for printing.
Alternatively if your preferred font is not supported within Sketchup you can use Adobe Illustrator or similar vector software to convert the text to outlines/paths.
You can then export from AI to a .dxf and import your text/logo into Sketchup to be extruded and exported as an .stl (.stl export requires a plugin)
Our letters did not need to be overly strong so they were printed in spiral vase mode to save on time and material. The results are surprisingly strong due to the 1mm nozzle we were using.
